Kristine Byars

“Painting is a passion I inherited from my grandmother. Born and raised in Wisconsin, my parents created a strong foundation, instilling in me a great love of nature, the outdoors, and all creatures. During visits to my grandmother’s dairy farm, she encouraged my sisters and me to draw and paint.”

Kristine takes pride in what she paints. Her style is rooted in optimism and capturing life.

Her primary medium is oil on canvas, using her own photography as subject matter whenever possible. The use of bold color and interesting situations result in paintings sparking warm emotion.

Working many years as a graphic artist, Kristine gained a wide range of artistic versatility beyond her first love of painting. From illustrating the children’s book Montana The Police Horse, to designing and painting large wall murals for the chimpanzees at H.S.U.S.' Black Beauty Ranch animal sanctuary, she has work hanging in both private and permanent public collections, and represented in several Texas galleries.

Inspiration is gained for her through world travel and her own back yard. She cherishes small towns and National Parks. She and her husband Steve divide their time between Dallas and beautiful East Texas. Kristine’s Golden Retriever and Horse complete their family.

“My goal as an artist is to capture the personalities, images, and moments that make life wonderful.” Kristine Byars
