Linda Popple
Once I discovered oil painting it became a passion for me. I am inspired by people, objects, and nature. Each day brings new discoveries. The buttery feel and color of the paint on my brush inspires and excites me.
I am continually influenced by the old masters and contemporary artists. Through their work I have learned techniques, color, composition and the value of hard work on a daily basis. I enjoy visits to art museums and galleries, reading books on art, and learning with friends. Workshops I have taken with artists have helped to guide me through my art journey.
I am currently exploring light and shadow with loose brush strokes and pushing color. I find that landscapes and urban scenes are good subjects for this exploration. In addition, I am continuing a series of faces painted from mug shots found on the internet and other people painted from photographs.
